Abstract

Background: Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) hypovolemia is characterized by orthostatic headaches caused by spontaneous or iatrogenic CSF leaks. Heavily T2-weighted MR myelography (MRM) is known as a accurate and noninvasive technique in diagnosis and localizing CSF leaks.
Cases reports: We report 2 cases. One is a case of spontaneous CSF hypovolemia successfully treated by using of MRM for targeted epidural blood patch (EBP) as demonstration of CSF leaks. The other is a case of iatrogenic CSF hypovolemia with equivocal clinical presentation in which MRM supported the diagnosis.
Conclusion: We experienced the clinical usefulness of MRM for diagnosis and treatment of CSF hypovolemia in these cases.
